Job Requirement:  Must be able to respond to the Topeka area within 30 minutes of call.

Duties: The Supervisor is responsible for supervising operations at multiple toll plazas, hiring, training, leading, counseling, motivating, and directing all employees; and insuring all KTA policies and procedures are correctly followed.  The Supervisor assists other KTA personnel in the effective carrying out of their duties, carries out special assignments or directives from various KTA personnel; and schedules and assigns employees to insure proper staffing levels. 

The Supervisor occasionally has to work in a booth performing the normal duties of a Collector.  Supervisors must, therefore, meet all requirements of the job description for Collector.

Job Demands:  The following are minimum demands necessary for this job:

  1. Ability to safely lift up to 20 pounds from floor level to chest level and maneuver such weight effectively out two feet from the body.
  2. Ability to stand continuously during an eight-hour working shift.
  3. Ability to safely retrieve items from ground level.
  4. Ability to maneuver in close spaces which would require twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, stepping and like movements.
  5. Ability to safely move from side to side, shift body weight to one side and maintain balance while reaching up or out and be able to do this on a repetitive basis.
  6. Ability to read and decipher information.
  7. Ability to count money.
  1. Ability to communicate orally in a courteous and businesslike manner and to generally handle stressful situations.
  1. Ability to differentiate colors.
  1. Ability to withstand exposure to vehicle emissions and to the natural elements year-round.
  1. Ability to work in bright daylight or at night.
  2. Ability to write and understand written instruction and to respond in the same manner.
  3. Ability to classify vehicles at a distance, pursuant to KTA classifications.
  4. Ability to work all shifts.
  5. Must pass the KTA's toll collection test with a satisfactory score of at least 70.

 

Education Requirements and Experience That are Advantageous:

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited high school or equivalent.
  2. Experience working in a customer service based operation involving cash receipts.
  3. Understanding of basic computer (P.C.) functions.
  4. Five or more years of recent experience in supervising others is required.
